Una cena di natale - Jo Bettoja and Anna Maria Cornetto
Serves 8
Capon used to the be the most popular Christmas Day dish in Italy, but now turkey is becoming the vogue. It is typically Milanese to serve turkey garnished with whole fruits and sage and rosemary sprigs. The real Christmas dessert in Italy is panettone, born in Milan, but eaten everywhere in all Italian families. Chocolate or plain nougat (torrone) from Cremona is also a popular Christmas sweet.
With the turkey, we recommend Dolcetto, a dry red wine that has a brick-red color and slightly bitter aftertaste.
